Calstar Grafighter Deckhand rods have the same blank construction as the Calstar Grafighter Jig & Bait series rods. A blend of graphite and fiberglass, the graphite adds recovery speed and reduces weight, while with the addition of fiberglass these composite rods are as durable as an all fiberglass model.
Calstar Deckhand Rods have cork tape grips and no reelseat. This allows the angler to attach the reel at any comfortable place along the rod butt. As a general rule of thumb, align your elbow with the end of the rod and lay your arm along the rod. At the point where your hand ends, usually about mid palm is where you want to mount your reel. Adjust up and down as is most comfortable. Better to error on the slightly long side rather than short. This gives you more leverage when casting, and puts the reel in a comfortable position when you are fighting a fish.
Calstar Grafighter rods are hand wrapped and finished right here in Southern California. All of the Graphiter series are wrapped with black, teal and white bindings, feature Fuji Ceramic guides and tips and are hand finished with several coats of a super durable, uv stable, clear epoxy system designed specifically for fishing rods.
All rods will require additional shipping charges, therefore do not qualify for free shipping. 9' and 10' rods cannot be shipped, in store pickup is available.
