Tony Reyes Trip Report and Fish Count July 11th, 2010

July 18, 2010 – 11:50 am

Isn’t Mexico beautiful this time of year? I just love being on the water in the warm months of summer in San Felipe. This is the fishing report for the Tony Reyes boat on the July 11th trip with Mike Cross as charter master.

The weather was fantastic and the water is getting warmer and so the fish are becoming more active. The bite on Snake Island was wide open, the kind of fishing you dream about. I mean this trip limited out on yellowtail, that is a lot of great fishing! There were plenty of mackerel to be found at San Francisquito, so the wells were full of live bait. The reef at San Francisquito had big yellowtail biting both live bait and jigs. I love live bait fishing but there is something about fooling a big yellowtail into biting your jig that is just a hoot!  The last day they fished the Golden Reef and as you know that spot can go one of two ways. It can either be epic fishing that you remember for the rest of your life or the wind can blow like the dickens. Well the wind blew that day and it is nearly impossible to stay on the reef with the wind blowing you like that.

The incredible Mike Cross was the charter master
