Tony Reyes Trip Report and Fish Count for June 3rd-8th, 2011
June 11, 2012 – 6:52 pm Tony just returned from a six day trip fishing in the Midriff Islands. Wide open Yellowtail and Cabrillas between La Rasa and Salsipuedes Islands. Yellowtails were boiling on the surface eating bait. Light jigs casting on the surface were working very well. In San Francisquito area they spent two days fishing because the fishing was wide open. Nice weather calm and cool with occasional fog which is normal for this time of year. Live bait was tough to catch. Cabrillas are still biting on jigs like the salas DX, green and yellow is the best color. Mirror lures orange, pink and blue are working very well. Overall it was a very good trip. The road to Mexicali to San Felipe has some construction and all anglers are reminded to obtain a free seven day visa at the border prior to the trip.
Limits Yellowtail up to 35lbs.
350 Cabrilla up to 20lbs.
201 Bass up to 4lbs.
2 Pargos up to 15lbs.
5 Sheepshead up to 15 lbs.
31 Whitefish up to 5lbs.
2 Groupers up to 45lbs.
3 Golden Cabrilla released
232 Misc. and released fish

Trip was cut short due to the bait problem and the windy weather on the last day. Its still and awesome trip. thank you much for the very helpful crew, specially our pangero Jorge ! can’t wait to go back again !

Randy did a great job as the new charter master. My brother Bill and I had a great trip and all the new people we met were friendly and great to know. Tony Reyes did an exceptional job running the boat as usual. All of the crew and our pangeros did a great job. Of all the trips I have taken, the food this time was the best. We also liked having all of the water and drinks included in the price of the trip. Catching a lot of great fish was icing on the cake. Thanks again for a great trip Randy and Tony. We hope to join you all on next year’s trip. Ted & Bill Pohle
