Tony Reyes Boat Fish Count and Trip Report May 9th 2010

May 17, 2010 – 1:15 pm

The Tony Reyes just returned from a successful six day midriff trip. There is something magical about these Tony Reyes trips. You are completely out and away from your job, freeways and everything else that causes stress. The openness of the sea before you allows you to let go and truly relax.

The weather was mild and perfect except for one day when the wind picked up a little. The water temperature is slowly rising as summer rapidly approaches. Its that time of year when The Sea of Cortez warms up and unleashes Mexicos true beauty and splendor.

The fishing was great! They found good yellowtail bites at several of the islands they fished, some of them up to thirty seven pounds. Chasing birds for yellowtail and coming into a huge bite is one my favorite types of fishing, its so exciting! The Tony Reyes fished San Lorenzo Island, San Francisquito Bay, Partida Island, El Diable Point and La Guardia Island. Blue and white jigs and Mirrolures worked great as well as live bait.

Some notable catches were Dave M. who caught a 105 pound grouper and 37 pound yellowtail. Don B. from Apache Junction, Arizona caugh a black sea bass over 100 pounds.

Overall it was a great trip and the fishing looks like it is going to get better and better.

I will try to get pictures and post them from the trip. Thank you!
