If big Catfish are your target than you better hit the Vine’ quick. Irvine Lake has tons of Blues between 10-20lbs where weighed in however, not to be outdone Ronson “Catmando” Smothers of LA topped the field. Ronson weighed in a monstrous 59.30 Blue Catfish. He caught his fish on a Shimano Baitrunner with 25lb test Big Game line on a chunk of Mac dipped in Catmando sauce. He fought the fish for about 25min.
Bass fishing continued it’s pace with anglers reporting up to 20 fish a day on plastics and topwaters. Productive baits included dropshotting, shakey heading, and poppers. The average size fish are around a pound and running up to around three pounds.
Bluegill fishing is basically “all you want” and they are hitting on mealworms and waxworms fished around the docks.
Trout Season is scheduled to open October 19th.
