Wow, this was an awesome trip ! Sliding up to a square mile bait ball with hundreds of yellowtail underneath was amazing. Jigs, bait, and a bare hook. W.F.O. on the yellows. Tony Reyes treated us first class. No matter what time I got up, the man was on point. Does this guy sleep ? Really took care of his customers. We will be back in 2012. Boat #5. Q.T should have his patent by then. ( joke only the boat would know )

I can't say I have been on as many trips as other people but I have my Capt Veallegas T-shirt.The Tony Reyes operation is a first class safety outfit particularly with the weather which no one can predict, the Eric was hit by two huge waves broadside and as fast as it went down from the reports, topheavy or otherwise at two o-clock in the mourning its Gods choice who would make it.How can the crew be blamed when they had the same minutes to react as anyone on board. They were awake which saved them.As fishermen, big boat, small boat we take a chance when we step on board we all take a chance, from hook in the finger to this tragedy.I mourn my fellow fisherman,I will fish for them next time out and be ready best I can for any emergency.I trust the Tony Reyes operation to safely get me their and back and will continue to make trips with them, they are one of the best fishing adventures I have ever been on and I will not hesitate to go on more trips with them.

I agree. Everyone on board should know exactly where every piece of life saving equipment is located at all times. Our boat has three huge life rafts capable of holding all passengers and crew as well as life vests, flares, etc. We have always had all the necessary life saving gear on board for every person on the boat. We will be having a mandatory safety procedure meeting in the galley before each trip. There has to be an emergency plan in place. There is definitely much to be learned from this tragedy, we are willing to learn and adapt.

I have fished on the Jose Andres and on the Tony Reyes for about 12 years. While I have to admit I have never experienced anything on any of the 10-12 trips I have had enjoyed I am shaken by the sinking of the Erik. Tom Ward from the Longfin and Tony Reyes have been very service oriented and have tried hard to offer a good fishing experience. The sinking of the Erik adds a new demension for the need to have better safety presentations given before sailing. I need to know where the survival gear is and how to use it when getting on the boat the next time I go fishing in the Sea of Cortez.
